Dave Boland
Hello, I'm Dave Boland, and I am proud to call Markstay-Warren home.
Since moving to Markstay in 2017, I have come to appreciate everything that makes our municipality special: the people, the natural beauty, the strong sense of community, and the rural lifestyle that so many of us value. It is a place where neighbours still help neighbours, where community spirit remains strong, and where families can build a great life.
My decision to serve on Council and run for Mayor comes from a simple belief: local government works best when it listens to residents, respects differing opinions, and focuses on finding practical solutions that benefit the entire community.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of industries, including aviation, construction, resource development, transportation, retail management, and municipal governance. These experiences have allowed me to develop strong leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills while working with people from all walks of life.
I have managed large-scale projects with budgets in the billions of dollars, coordinated complex operations involving aircraft and personnel across Canada, supervised construction and renovation projects, managed retail departments, and led teams through challenging situations. While the industries may have been different, the lessons remained the same: listen first, communicate clearly, work collaboratively, and always be accountable for the decisions you make.
What I am most proud of, however, is not any title or position I have held. It is the relationships I have built with people along the way. Whether working with employees, customers, contractors, government representatives, or community members, I have always believed that people deserve to be heard and treated with respect. Leadership is not about talking the loudest—it is about bringing people together, solving problems, and helping others succeed.
As a Councillor, I have worked to promote transparency, responsible financial management, and respectful dialogue. I believe residents deserve a municipal government that is open, accountable, and focused on delivering results. I have consistently advocated for practical solutions, long-term planning, and stronger relationships between Council, staff, residents, and other levels of government.
Outside of municipal politics, I enjoy the outdoors and everything Northern Ontario has to offer. Like many residents, I appreciate the lakes, forests, trails, and recreational opportunities that make Markstay-Warren such a desirable place to live. Protecting these assets while supporting responsible growth will continue to be an important priority for our community.
I believe Markstay-Warren has an incredibly bright future. We have hardworking residents, dedicated volunteers, strong local businesses, and tremendous opportunities for growth. By working together, respecting one another, and focusing on what unites us, we can continue building a municipality that future generations will be proud to call home.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to meeting more residents, hearing your ideas, and working together to make Markstay-Warren an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
